About this tool
Pick a date, a time and the time zone it belongs to. The table shows the same moment in 18 cities and UTC, with the day marked when it falls on the day before or after. Daylight saving time is applied for the date you choose.
Plan a call, a webinar or a flight connection across time zones without counting hours on your fingers. Choose a date and time in one city and see the same moment in Johannesburg, London, New York, Sydney, Tokyo and more, with daylight saving handled for that exact date. It uses the time zone database built into your browser.
How to use the Time Zone Converter
- Choose the date and the time.
- Choose the time zone that time belongs to. It starts with your own.
- Read the matching local times in the table. Rows marked +1 day or −1 day fall on a different date.
9:00 in New York on 13 October 2026
New York is on daylight saving time (UTC−4) in October, so 9:00 there is 13:00 UTC. That is 14:00 in London (UTC+1), 15:00 in Johannesburg (UTC+2), 18:30 in India (UTC+5:30), 22:00 in Tokyo (UTC+9) and midnight on 14 October in Sydney (UTC+11), which the table marks as +1 day.
Offsets and daylight saving
Every time zone is an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Some offsets change during the year because of daylight saving: New York moves from UTC−5 in winter to UTC−4 in summer, London from UTC+0 to UTC+1, and Sydney, in the southern hemisphere, from UTC+10 to UTC+11 in its summer. South Africa stays on UTC+2 all year. Because countries change their clocks on different dates, the difference between two cities can shift by an hour for a few weeks in spring and autumn. The converter uses the IANA time zone rules in your browser, so it applies the correct offset for the date you pick.
Frequently asked questions
What time is it in South Africa compared with the UK?
South Africa is UTC+2 all year. When the UK is on GMT (winter) South Africa is 2 hours ahead; during British Summer Time it is 1 hour ahead.
Does the converter handle daylight saving time?
Yes. It uses the rules for the date you choose, so a meeting in March or November shows the right time even when only one country has changed its clocks.
What does +1 day mean?
The time in that city falls on the next calendar day. For example, a 9:00 meeting in New York is already the next day in Sydney.
What is UTC?
Coordinated Universal Time, the reference time zones are measured from. It is the same as GMT for everyday purposes and does not change for daylight saving.
