About this tool

Splits the price into equal payments (any leftover cents go on the first one), due every two weeks or every month from the purchase date. Fees and late fees you enter are added to the right payments, and the total fee is shown as an effective yearly rate so you can compare it with interest. Everything is worked out in your browser.

Buy now, pay later plans split a purchase into a few equal payments, often four, with the first one at checkout. They usually charge no interest if you pay on time, but late fees and several plans running at once can catch people out. Enter the price and plan to see every payment and due date, and what any fees would cost you. It runs in your browser and nothing is saved.

How to use the Buy Now, Pay Later Calculator

  1. Enter the purchase price and choose your currency symbol.
  2. Pick the number of payments, how often they are due and whether the first one is taken at checkout.
  3. Add any fee charged on each payment, the late fee and how many payments might be missed.
  4. Add other pay-later instalments to see your total due each period.

A $400 order in four payments

Bought on 1 November 2026 with the first payment at checkout, a $400 order costs $100 on 1 November, 15 November, 29 November and 13 December, $400 in total. If the second payment is missed and the late fee is $8, the plan costs $408. That $8 is paid for a few weeks of credit on about $300, which works out to about 42% a year, more than many credit cards charge.

Where the cost hides

A pay-in-4 plan is a short loan: after the first payment you owe the rest of the price for about six weeks. The cost appears when something goes wrong: a late fee for each missed payment, a bank fee if a debit order bounces, or interest on longer plans. Because the credit lasts only weeks, even a small fee is a high yearly rate. The calculator finds the rate at which your dated payments are worth exactly the price on the day you buy. Several plans at once are the other trap, so add up what is due each period before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Is buy now, pay later really interest-free?

Pay-in-4 plans are usually free if every payment is on time. Longer plans and some providers charge interest or account fees, so read the terms before you agree.

What happens if I miss a buy now, pay later payment?

Most providers charge a late fee and may pause your account. Some report missed payments to credit bureaus, and a failed debit order can also cost you a fee from your bank.

Can I have more than one buy now, pay later plan?

Often, yes. Providers set their own limits, and some let you run several plans at once. Add up every instalment due in the same week or month first, because overlapping plans are an easy way to miss a payment.

Can buy now, pay later affect my credit score?

It depends on the provider and the country. Some report missed or even on-time payments to credit bureaus and others do not, so check the provider’s terms.
